First Pakistan Super League cricket tournament will begin tonight in Dubai

ISLAMABAD: First ever Pakistan Super League T20 Cricket will start today in Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Five Teams Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Lahore Qalandars and Karachi kings are taking part in the tournament.

Renowned Pakistani artist Ali Zafar and global hip-hop sensation Sean Paul will set the stage alight at the opening ceremony of the much-awaited HBL Pakistan Super League.

The T20 extravaganza from Pakistan will bring top international cricketers to Dubai and Sharjah. The opening game between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators will be preceded by a star-studded opening ceremony at the Dubai Cricket Stadium.

Cricketers from all five teams will be present at the ceremony as they announce their arrival on the HBL PSL stage. Also part of the ceremony will be an exciting act from the latest Pakistani movie Bachaana. Lead actors Sanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza will re-enact their on-screen magic for fans at the stadium.

Introducing LED wristbands to the public in Dubai, the HBL PSL opening ceremony will also provide fans with an opportunity to have their own free branded LED wristbands.


Sharing his excitement about performing at the opening ceremony of the HBL PSL, Ali Zafar said: “I am proud to announce that I will be performing at the opening ceremony. It is definitely going to be a lot of fun and fans are in for a huge surprise from me.”

In a video message to his fans, Sean Paul invited them to attend the ceremony. “I will be in Dubai on the 4th of February 2016 for the HBL Pakistan Super League. Hope to see you there!”

Pakistan Super League to be streamed live on Youtube. Fans in Pakistan will get to see live matches on Youtube. 

HBL Pakistan Super League reached a landmark agreement with Google for digital streaming of the first season of the League.

This arrangement is another feather in the HBL PSL cap as top international brands continue to join hands with Pakistan Cricket. With the agreement in place, fans across Pakistan will be able to enjoy all 24 action-packed matches live on YouTube, the biggest online video sharing portal worldwide. In addition video packages and match-related content including highlights will be made available to fans across the world.

Chairman PSL Governing Council Mr. Najam Sethi shared his excitement about the development. “We are thrilled at the prospect of partnering up with Google. This is great news for Pakistan Cricket and PSL fans, the ease and accessibility that YouTube provides to the viewer is unparalleled. I am sure that fans will now be able to stay tuned to all the action and the razzmatazz of Pakistan’s biggest sporting product!”

HBL Pakistan Super League kickstarts on 4th February 2016 in Dubai. The opening game will see Misbah-ul-Haq’s Islamabad United taking on Sarfraz Ahmed’s Quetta Gladiators. Preceding the opening match will be a grand opening ceremony with performances from Ali Zafar, Sean Paul and Sanam Saeed.
